Additional FEMA Public Assistance reimbursement will be coming to Vermont municipalities for the July 7 to 21, 2023, severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides (DR-4720).
On November 1, 2024, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available to Vermont by authorizing an increase in the level of Federal funding for Public Assistance projects undertaken as a result of this event.
This change means the Federal share for Public Assistance has increased from 75 percent to 90 percent of the total eligible costs, except for assistance previously approved at 100 percent for a limited time period. The state and local share of the disaster now is 10 percent. Vermont Department of Public Safety Finance staff will be reaching out to Public Assistance applicants in the coming weeks to arrange for additional reimbursements under this beneficial change.
Learn what share of the remaining 10 percent damage costs the state will pay for your community by getting a report on actions your community has taken to qualify for higher levels of post-disaster financial support through Vermont's Emergency Relief and Assistance Fund (ERAF). Are you a 7.5 percent, 12.5 percent, or 17.5 percent community?
