Legislative Policy Committees

Join a VLCT Policy Committee

The 2025-2026 VLCT Municipal Policy guides the actions of the board of directors and the advocacy staff in the Vermont Legislature and at the federal level as needed. Every summer, the five policy committees review the municipal policy and recommend revisions in anticipation of the ensuing legislative session, and in early fall at VLCT’s Annual Meeting the policy is discussed, amended as necessary, and approved by all voting members. The committees may also convene to address specific policy proposals or legislation throughout the session. The current committees are:

  • FAIR (Finance, Administration, and Intergovernmental Relations)
  • Transportation
  • Public Safety
  • Quality of Life and Housing
  • Environment

Policy committee members are municipal officials who have an interest in and a level of knowledge of the policies that the committees review. The VLCT board  appoints members to the committees. If you want to join a policy committee, please notify Advocacy staff.
