The National League of Cities (NLC) bestows its John G. Stutz Award on employees who have served 25 years or more on the staff of a state municipal league, state league risk pool, or NLC. The award is named in honor of John Stutz, who convened representatives of ten state municipal leagues for the first meeting of what was to become the American Municipal Association and subsequently the National League of Cities. VLCT employee Trisha Clark began her career at the League in 1999 and received her award this year.

Trisha’s first position was Production Clerk. She was solely responsible for all of VLCT’s mailings, newsletters and other printed materials. This included the timely delivery of the printed Weekly Legislative Report to the Montpelier post office each Friday by 4 PM. Sometimes this was no easy task as the printers, copiers, or mail machines were prone to break down just when they were needed most. Trisha handled everything like a pro, becoming the master of the copiers and all of the equipment in the production room. She’s still the go-to support for folks with paper jams! After working in production, Trisha utilized her customer service skills and transitioned to the Receptionist role in March of 2001. Trisha answered calls with ease and helped members with a variety of questions and concerns. She was a valuable member of the Administrative Services team.

Trisha was then promoted to the Claims Department as Administrative Assistant in February of 2007, to Senior Administrative Assistant in 2015, and to her current position, Senior Administrative Assistant for the Risk Management Services (RMS) Department, in January of 2020. During her tenure with Claims and RMS, Trisha has worked to support both the Property/Casualty and Workers Compensation Claims teams. She is the central hub to all of the work and coordinates closely with staff, members, and claimants to ensure as smooth a process as possible. As a testament to her critical role, there are several spreadsheets that highlight the weeks she takes vacation, so that everyone can prepare and be ready for her absence, demonstrating the true impact she has on her teams and the League. She is the “glue” that holds it all together.

In addition to her administrative role, Trisha has also served as a key member of VLCT’s Safety and Wellness Committee and contributes to many tasks when needed.

VLCT staff, her supervisor Kelly Kindestin, and RMS Director Joe Damiata congratulate Trisha on this incredible feat! Cheers to 25 more!

Send a congratulations message to Trisha!
