Seal of the state of Vermont and hte words Vermont Public Safety Communications Task Force

Act 78 of 2023 created the Vermont Public Safety Communications Task Force to:
“…establish a statewide reliable, secure, and interoperable public safety communications system, comprising integrated 911 call-taking and regional dispatch systems, and to ensure that the system is equitably and sustainably financed and universally accessible by all persons throughout the State.”

The Public Safety Communications Task Force (PSCTF, or Task Force) is pleased to share this draft of the "Vermont Public Safety Communications System: Options & Plan Recommendations” report.

Since June 2023, the Task Force has been working diligently to document and analyze the current public safety dispatch environment within the State and to develop a plan to achieve the goal envisioned by the Vermont legislature in Act 78. The Task Force’s chosen system planning vendor, Mission Critical Partners, has developed a working draft of the system planning document which provides specific solution options and recommendations.

This is your opportunity to review the current working draft and to provide feedback and comments. Your feedback is essential in shaping a comprehensive dispatch system that is more responsive, efficient, and effective for everyone. This public review period will be open until March 28th and you can provide comments via a worksheet available at https://dps.vermont.gov/committees-boards/communications or via e-mail to DPS.PSCTaskForce@vermont.gov.

Virtual working sessions for designated stakeholders to review and discuss the draft will be held during the week of March 10th. Please visit https://info.missioncriticalpartners.com/en-us/public-safety-vermont-public-communications-task-force to sign up for a meeting that fits your needs.

Overview sessions open to the public to review the working draft will be held on March 18th and 20th. Please visit our website: https://dps.vermont.gov/committees-boards/communications to sign up for a public listening session. Registration for these meetings will open next week.

We greatly appreciate the valuable support we have received from the dedicated Vermont public safety dispatch community and stakeholders throughout this process and look forward to receiving your feedback during this critical phase of the project. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Barb Neal & Jennifer Morrison
