August 29, 2024

State laws passed earlier this year recognize the critical need to safeguard public safety and prioritizes the creation of a statewide, reliable, secure, and interoperable public safety communications system. The plan is to integrate 911 call-taking and regional dispatch systems into a unified network that is equitably financed and universally accessible across the state. This initiative marks a significant advancement in ensuring that every Vermonter has access to essential public safety services, The Vermont Public Safety Communications Task Force has been set up to oversee and manage the creation of and transition to this new system.

As part of the crucial information gathering phase of the project, the task force invites all first responders, communications specialists, and local and state officials to attend one of four Regional Town Halls in person or remotely.

Your feedback is critical to designing a future system that meets the needs of all Vermonters. Please let your voice be heard now, More information and registration.
