How does a small Vermont company show up in a big way to support local government? They make the largest single donation to date to the VLCT Municipal Service Scholarship fund. This is exactly what J.A. Morrissey, Inc. (“JAM”) did during their recent company holiday party when they presented a $1,500.00 check to VLCT.
For more than 30 years JAM has worked to develop a relationship-focused process – commitment, collaboration, cooperation, integrity – with their clients and their team. Most of the projects they undertake are incredibly challenging but have deep community impact – like affordable housing, local healthcare centers, libraries, and community spaces. And all involve working with municipalities, whether it is for a water or sewer connection, zoning and building permits, or access to a town highway. JAM’s roots to local government started with their founder, Jeanne Morrissey. A Vermont original, Jeanne graduated from UVM with a degree in civil engineering and started her career for working for...wait for it...local government - the County of Los Angeles. It didn’t take her long to return to Vermont as a licensed Professional Engineer to work for...wait for it again… local government - the City of Burlington. Her path to form JAM may have led her away from local government but not far since it is still a critical partner in JAM’s projects.
JAM’s generous gift was made in recognition of those in every corner of the state who choose to step up and step in to serve their communities. JAM may be small in size (<25 employees), but they have the hearts of giants and VLCT is grateful!
