The City of Barre, Vermont, is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Police Chief. This position reports directly to the Director of Public Safety. Under administrative direction, the Deputy Police Chief directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Police Department within the Public Safety Department, including enforcing criminal and traffic laws, regulations, and ordinances in order to preserve and protect life, health, and property in the City and related services and activities. He or she also coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Public Safety.

In the absence of the Police Chief, the Deputy Police Chief has the authority to represent or act as the Police Chief.
