The Town of Fair Haven, Vt., is seeking a part-time (25 hrs/week) Assistant Water Operator for its Water Treatment Plant. Reporting to the Chief Water Operator and the DPW Superintendent, this union-based position performs a variety of operational and maintenance tasks related to the Town’s water system according to Town ordinance and a state permit to operate. The Assistant Water Operator covers laboratory work, process control, and O&M frequently involving outdoor work throughout the year. The position, which requires moderate physical effort, works on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays and includes emergency call-ins.   • Must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a good driving record;
  • high school diploma/GED;
  • possession of a Vermont Class 4B Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification or the ability to obtain one within 1.5 years from the hiring start date;
  • ability to deal with the mechanical aspects of a water plant is highly desirable.

Pay is commensurate with experience and according to the Union Contract.
